Barcelona-Costa Brava-Malaga: Highlights in Pictures

I have been back for a week now, flying in to Manila last Monday and working the same day. Since then it has been non-stop: wading through the email that had piled up while I was gone, unpacking and getting things back in their places, in two words -- settling in. That all may seem dreary and tedious after having come from the amazing whirlwind of Spain with the man I love. Well, yes...in way it's a slow and gentle push back into reality. But, lest I forget, the most important part of the honeymoon is still with me...my lovable C! So it's also a wonderful settling in to rhythms both new and familiar...

Now, before I get too cheesy, another important part of the honeymoon: pictures! While I finish putting together my actual written highlights, here are my highlights in pictures. If anyone has questions about any of the pictures just leave a comment and I will answer as best I can! :)

Belated Happy Birthday Joey!

Your photos are gorgeous! It's too bad I decided to cancel my Barcelona trip this year because I'm too busy with other things. I was looking forward to trying the lamb resto you told me about ... maybe next year! =)

Hi Tattum! Thank you! I know...we could have met up! Next time definitely!!! :) I have family there so I am sure we will be going back :)

Hi Tin! This is our 1st honeymoon :) We just didn't take it right after our wedding so we had time to "settle" into our new place...

Thanks Pille! :)

Thank you Paul! Oh how I wish! We didn't plan this trip early enough to be able to make reservations to El Bulli...oh well. I did eat in a restaurant of someone who worked under Ferran Adria though...and I am sure there are more than one of these in and around Barcelona...lots of young chefs trying to push their own envelopes...it makes for a great eating scene!

Hello Paris Breakfasts! Thank you :)

Welcome back, Joey. Belated happy birthday, dearie.

You know why your photos are gorgeous, because the person (and that's you) who took the pictures is a very happy person. It shows in your work.

yes wouldn't mind a few tips. any particular food suggestions in Barcelona? have an aunt who's been living there for over 20 years so i'm sure she has her favourites but maybe you've discovered other things.. like what was that steak pic in one of your collages? ..and incidentally how do you make those collages?

Julia said...

what a beautiful pictures,
it really brings memories back from when I was in Barcelona...
did you go as well to that delicious little patisserie escriba??
I absolutely loved their chocolate tart(!) =)

ChichaJo said...

Hi Ipshi! Thank you for your lovely comments :) It was a wonderful experience!

Hi Katrina! Thank you! Both my brithday and Spain left me with wonderful memories...juicy and otherwise ;)

Hi Midge! Thanks and it's good to be back...now if only I can get to the next post...sigh...it's coming around I promise!

Hi Relly! Thanks :) He wasn't complaining...heehee :)

Hi Zita! It's a Sony Cybershot, 4 mega pixels...it's really old...

Hi Lani! Thank you...that was very sweet and put a smile on my face :)

Hi Gonzo! You should definitely try lechal (suckling lamb) from Asador de Aranda...excellent! I'm not sure what steak you are referring to in the pictures...it could actually be the duck breast I had in a small cove along the Costa Brava which was also fantastic (in Hotel Sa Tuna, in Sa Tuna). You can email me at eighty_breakfasts@yahoo.com for more stuff :)

Hi Julia! Thanks :) I always have great new memories every time I go...it's such a vibrant place. I went to Escriba but didn't get to try their chocolate tart :( More for next time :)

Wow Joey what a wonderful collection of pics. La Bisbal is near to my in-laws, I could spend hours there. It looks like you had such a wonderful time on your honeymoon (congrats btw). In the South did you venture to Ronda or Nerja-2 of my favourite places? Working my way through your nutella things. You're right, there's a lot you can do with nutella ;)

ChichaJo said...

Hi Little Foodie! Wow! Lucky you to have your in-laws there...I could have wandered around for hours but we didn't have enough time...the stuff was wonderful though and I shipped my fair share back :) Didn't get to go to Ronda or Nerja as we spent most of our time up North, but do want to go back someday...there is so much more to explore! :)
