And if my mother had packed a pasta dish with this sort of sauce, I daresay I would have always gone home with an empty lunchbox. :)Midgehttp://sybdive.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14448190.post-7524764109013542392013-07-06T12:22:41.092+08:002013-07-06T12:22:41.092+08:00Hi Sheryl! It's really amazing! :)
Hi Rosa! ...Hi Sheryl! It's really amazing! :)

Hi Rosa! It is! And with such minimal ingredients!

Hi Kat! Try it! So unbelievably easy to do and so yummy :) Enjoy!

Hi Didi! I read somewhere that it's actually better to use good canned tomatoes rather than less-than-sweet fresh ones. And since our tomatoes here, though great for other things, are not as sweet as the ones used to make sauce, I use the canned ones without too much guilt ;) Also read that a lot of tomatoes in the grocery are picked green and ripened with chemicals, while good canned tomatoes are vine-ripened...another reason to get canned unless you have access to vine-ripened sweet tomatoes :) Anyways, in short, using canned tomatoes for your sauce can't be all that bad and certainly better than buying processed/packaged tomato sauce! ;)

Hi Kelli! Glad to hear it has worked for you too! And thanks for sharing your variations :)

Hi Shalum! I think the Amateur Gourmet tried it with garlic :) I'm sure it would also be delicious!

Hi John! Hope you enjoy it!

Hi Betty q! Thanks for sharing your variations! They sound fantastic!! Especially that sinigang...must try!!

Hi Nayna! Glad to hear so many people are enjoying this sauce :) Thanks for the pork chop recipe! I have bookmarked it and just bought some chops to try it with! :)ChichaJohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14143881216169572999noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14448190.post-4774503291648546572013-07-05T10:58:17.334+08:002013-07-05T10:58:17.334+08:00I really love this sauce! I love the flavor!

Last year, we learned my husband has a dairy allergy, so I substitute with olive oil, and it is still delicious. When I add ground beef to it, I do add a little sugar and plenty of basil, either fresh or dried.

I have tried a couple times to go back to store-bought sauce, and it is just NOT the same. I'm sticking with this great recipe!
